Gamer skits

Postby Geist_Wolf » Thu Jan 14, 2010 2:22 pm

Ok, I've decided I really wanna push ahead with do the gamer skits as videos. So I need some new scripts from HPanda to make a decent series out of it. If you still have copies of rule nazi and drunk gamer send them over. Otherwise we can just use to the recording of rule nazi and somewhere I have a printed version of drunk gamer. Write them in the same style as you had before with a narrator doing the intro and having asides and stuff. I know you said in the past that you didn't think the scripts would work well out of a audio medium, but let me figure the video part out. Actually, anyone can try writing a script (which would prolly make HPanda happy) as long as it follows the same theme laid out in the audo recording "Rule Nazi"

What I need from other people are ideas for other gamer types to make a skit for. Currently we have "Rule Nazi", "Drunk Gamer", and I want to do "Webcam Gamer". Webcam is obviously inspired by our own gaming sessions. Also we should do a "Newb Gamer" and ooo... "Live-Action Gamer" maybe. I would like to do a total of 12 different videos, but 10 will be enough if we have trouble coming up with gamer ideas. Also, don't be limited to simply RPG games, we can also cover console gamers, and board game gamers. Maybe an airsoft ep... but is airsofting really a gamer thing? This is the open forum for discussion.

I was also thinking of doing a special interview with the gamer as a bonus for each episode. If any one else has any ideas for bonus features throw them out as well.

Crap, I looked on my hard drive, and I somehow don't have copies of the old scripts. That's really weird, considering I save all of my writing, including bad poetry. No idea what happened there.....Maybe I wrote em directly into the message board for some reason?

Anyway, I did stumble across my old list of ideas. Keep in mind, though, that several of these probably would either suck or are undoable. This was just brainstorming.

The Paladin
The Rules Lawyer
The Time-Period-Confused Roleplayer
The Wants-To-Be-Involved Wife
The Maaaan Innnnn Cyberspace-ace-ace
The MMO player trying out Pen-and-Paper
The Goth Wannabe
The Vicarious Sex Machine
The Feminist
The Minmaxing God

Hrmm... gonna have to explain that one a bit. A super religous guy playing? Or teh guy that truely plays the paladin proper?
HPanda wrote:The Rules Lawyer

Done that one
HPanda wrote:The Time-Period-Confused Roleplayer

Was gonna throw that in with "Newb Gamer", the player keeps saying thinsg like "I want a bud light."
HPanda wrote:The Wants-To-Be-Involved Wife

Maybe, was thinking of a doing a "Chick Gamer" but these are actually 2 different types
HPanda wrote:The Maaaan Innnnn Cyberspace-ace-ace

Maybe, need to flesh it out a bit I think
HPanda wrote:The MMO player trying out Pen-and-Paper

Maybe
HPanda wrote:The Goth Wannabe

Hrm... I dunno.
HPanda wrote:The Vicarious Sex Machine

Maybe
HPanda wrote:The Feminist

Maybe
HPanda wrote:The Minmaxing God

Maybe

We can prolly combine some of them into one vid. Like "Chick Gamer" can have a segment cover femenist and wife. I also thnk that minmaxer could by slapped in with MMO, becuase usually it's MMO people that want to min/max. But so far off to a good start. We just need to throw ideas around and finalize ideas. Remember, we are going live so we will be limited to what actors we can scrounge up so that will also determine what we can do.

Ya min/maxing is the norm in 3.5, 4th, and Pathfinder because they are based more off of MMO's then role-playing.

So does no one else have any ideas or still thinking?

So far I would say the confirmed list of skits stands at:
1)Rule Nazi
2)Drunk Gamer
3)Newb Gamer
4)Webcam Gamer

Confirmed means that they are skits I want to do, not meaning that scripts are done. Scripts are only done for Rule Nazi and Drunk Gamer. Possible ideas are Chick Gamer, MMO Gamer, The LARPer, Wii Gamer, and The Paladin if Hpanda ever explains what exactly he means by that title. That only makes 9 possible skits, which is short of my goal of 10-12. I want to get started soon but don't want to start until at least rough drafts of each script are done.

Should prolly add that I'm currently bouncing ideas around for the scripts for Newb Gamer and Webcam gamer. All scripts are open for anyone who wants to write one, yes even you Kerzan. Claim any scripts you want but if by some odd chance we have 2 scripts for one skit we we will prolly combine the best from both.

I have some others but most would probly end up being combined with others

    The Frat Boy gamer
    Tween Gamer
    Ex/Military Gamer
    Gamers around the World
Comparison between the average X-Box live and PSN gamers.

The idea behind the paladin could go a number of ways. It could be the player that wants to always be the good guy, who is placed in a group that just wants to fuck around. Comedy ensues as the whiny little bitch is forced to pillage and plunder. Bonus points if the DM can make pillaging and plundering the moral thing to do.

Could also be the player that annoys the hell out of the group by insisting on playing the paladin to the letter of the law. Tipping off the town guard about player actions, loudly challenging the baddies when stealth is in order, etc. Similar to the last one, but much more....I don't know....vindictive about it.

I suppose we could also do a skit about bubble-hearthing, but it's been done to death.

The gamer in cyberspace thing was the webcam gamer. I was just being silly while brainstorming. We do have some experience with this one. Things like pointing the camera at inappropriate objects, etc. We could also add in some fun stuff that didn't happen (fapping when the DM mentions something naughty, taking the webcam to the store and having people freak out about occult references, etc.).

How would newb gamer go? Player that just can't understand technical terms? Can't imagine stuff so demands everything be drawn? Wants to shoot everything encountered with a fireball? Wants experience after every kill, even mid-fight (I guess this could be more MMO gamer)? Tries to play Lord of the Rings (wink, wink) with female players (or possibly male characters playing females)? I dunno, I'm tired.

Oo! Mothers trying out D&D because they heard it was satanic, and want to prove it's evil! Anyone up for Monty Python-esque female voices? Conversely, I guess we could change mothers to priests for a different kind of comedy.

Maybe but we don't know any Frat Boys nor own a lot sports games. Remember what we have to work with here.
Kerzan wrote:Tween Gamer

Not really feeling that one.
Kerzan wrote:Ex/Military Gamer

I don't think that is really a large stereotype
Kerzan wrote:Gamers around the World

Again, how are we gonna pull this off with our resources?
Kerzan wrote:Comparison between the average X-Box live and PSN gamers.

Oh yea, it will generate a lot of fanboy rage but I think that could end up being a good one.

Alright, then I nominate HPanda to write the script for the Paladin using the latter idea. Also, add in how the Paladin may seem like a Rule Nazi but since he actually playing the class properly and not abusing arbitrary rules he can't be punished by the "hand of god". Bubble Hearthing has been done to death, and with the new pally skills they no longer bubble-hearth, they "bubble-rape everyone arou nd them, especially death knights"

Newb Gamer pretty follows a person who has never seen a die with a number of sides not equal to 6, isn't very familiar with medieval or fantasy, constantly uses modern day words/references, and does things that would a decent gamer would know not to do like shoot a fireball while the entire group is crammed into a small room.
