Monster Hunter Tri

Postby Geist_Wolf » Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:50 pm

I thought we already had a thread about this but I couldn't find it. Anywho, currently info is a release date of April 6, 2010. While the exact date is somewhat sketchy, Nintendo Power has stated that it will be released in April. It will also natively support WiiSpeak for VoIP. Japan had a special wii bundle and hope that we get one as well.

Dammit, read more of the article on wikipedia and it says that they took out the Bow, Gunlance, Hunting Horn, and Dual Swords. That blows.

OH, and while japanese peeps gotta pay-2-play we will have access for free becaue Capcom knows that sales will be weak in all western markets if online wasn't free. Also, it seem thats why WiiSpeak is used because once again they knew western customers would pretty much demand voice chat. I guess the Japanese don't like to talk to each other when they play...

Further research has shown that currently there are no plans for s special Wii bundle with the game. But there will be a special game Bundle that comes with the new Classic Controller Pro which has a second row of shoulder buttons and an ergonamic grip. It looks like the ugly baby of a DualShock3 and a Xbox 360 controller. Buying the bundle will save a person 10 dollars compared to buying the game and controller seperate.

And yes, I'm being a post count whore right now.

Yeah, but in fairness, you've seen how they're improved upon the weapons that stayed in, and they are adding a new one (an axe that can turn into other weapons). I think the gunlance kinda became split between Lance and axe, since axe I'm pretty sure will have short range blasting capability.

Hammers are staying in, but with the weapon speed changes and how well everything else flows now, I may end up switching to something else. Greatsword and lance in particular look like they're no longer clunky.

I'll probly end up with sns, hammer, lance, or the axe.

Still really pissed about the hunting horn.

well, obviously I will be going back to bowgun since the got rid of my precious Bow, and I will use the GreatSword cuz I've gotten pretty decent with that and I am really interested in the Slash Axe. I'm gonna go watch some japanese vids on youtube, since the game has been out for months in Japan there a bunch of vids up already

My research has turned up many interesting things. Most weapons now have a stun attack in some way (GS is a blade slap, Lance and SNS have shield bashes) but not as good as ther hammer. Bowguns have become a mix and match weapon based on combining a stock, frame, and barrel and the light/heavy determination depends on the weight at the end. There is also now a "medium" level for bowguns as well. Some stuff is garaunteed to make a heavy gun simply based on the single pieces weight but it's an interesting system. Lance also seems more viable because the removed the linear aspect of it by giving it a sidestep dodge and a horizontal attack.

unfortunately I also found out that for some strange reason Capcom is releasing Frontier on the XBawx 360 in Japan. No word on a NA/EU release because of this. My guess is that Capcom US will spit out the same money issues that they said for bringing PC Frontier to America. Unless the convince Microsoft to handle the servers and stuff. Which if they do means that a US version might not bee too far fetched. And if it is microsoft backing it then they might also bring the PC version over as one of those "Games for Windows" like Shadowrun and Halo. who knows, but I'm still kinda miffed that they dissed the PS3 with this move since the 360 is the worst selling system in Japan...

They probably figure that since this is on the Wii, it's their chance to really expand their audience.
