Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Postby Geist_Wolf » Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:53 am

So the most anticioated game of teh year came out today... and I already beat it. Yep, took me less than six hours to run through the campaign on regular difficulty. Kinda disappointed by that actually. I'm pretty sure the first game took longer. Whats crazy is that there is even an option to skip levels that you might be offended by. Which of course would make the game even shorter. Now it does say I'm only 50% completed, so I have no clue what that actually means right now. Of course now there is multiplayer and the new special ops mode which is pretty much just a bunch of challenges that you can do solo or with a friend.

All inall I would still say it's a good game. The gameplay is still as tight as the first, the story line is way more fucked up than the first (which is nuts cuz you literally get nuked in the first game, oh and shot in the face), and the variety in play types and weapons was good. I look forward to the multiplayer and all the changes made there. I tried a round tonight but was so laggy I had to quit which means my current record is 0-1. Which is bull becuase the game was so laggy I couldn't stop rubber-banding. I don't know if the servers are just overwhelmed right now (which is possible) or my internet was just fucking up because it was fucking up when I tried to patch the game.

It was kinda funny, 4 people were on the PS3 tonight. Three of us (Myself, Mentoc, and Kerzan) were playing MW2 and the last one (General) was playing Fallout 3... right... cuz thats the game everyone is playing these days.

I'll kill you in your sleep.

I'm a completion-ist. I like to finish some things before I start others; I wrapped up the last of the non-Broke Steel DLC stuff for Fallout, because that's what I've been doing.

Mentoc texted me, saying, "Yo. Feel like doing some Spec Ops on CoD: MWF2?" My reply was in the affirmative; I wrapped up the shit I was working on, got familiarized with the game, and was good to go. Fun times ensued. Quit yer bitchin'; I'll be on after I get off of work Wednesday (9pm, jackass).

Don't make me kiss you. 'CAUSE I WILL.

Chill dude, I thought you forgot the game came out. Or you are just that obsessed with Fallout 3. Which you gotta admit you deem seem to take the game to heart. What the bottlecap collection up to now?

Well, there was another patch today and it seems to have screwed up the multiplayer. Now when I try to get in a game it just says "Connecting to Matchmaking Server" and does nothing. A quick scan on the interwebs and it seems I'm not the only one having this problem and everyone agrees it only happened after the 1.02 patch. So either the patched messed stuff up or IW's servers couldn't handle the load the melted last night. So I will try to be on later tonight if the game will let me

I'm chill, home-slice :)

Last night was a helluva lot of fun. Downloading the 1.03 patch currently.

Anyone know of a good quality but not too expensive mic/headset that I can pick up tomorrow when I get my paycheck? Gotta let y'all hear my sexy voice.

i usually just go to Best Buy/CompUSA/whatever and buy whatever they have for $20. Seems to work out decently.

The official Sony one is very nice and fairly cheap if I recall. I think like 30 bucks. I got mine with SOCOM so not really sure.

*Edit*

Just looked their 50 bucks. :(

Any bluetooth headset will work, so just swing by best buy or something and see whats on sale. The first headset I got was a motorola for like 20-30 bucks. I got the official sony one for free with Socom so buying Socom wasn't a total waste. Hell, doesn't FYE sell them in the cell phone accesory area? Otherwise just go to any shop that sells cell phone stuff or electronics

Multi-player impressions, anyone?

Overall, I dig it. My biggest gripes are minor things, really.

Minor thing: Holy shit, it's hard to get "penetration kills" while using FMJ rounds. The perk for the unlock (unlock being extended mags, which are NICE) takes up a valuable slot that could be better used elsewhere most times, and it's just so rare that you can slay some bodies that are behind cover that you can shoot through, even with FMJs (which ventures into GAME GUN RETARDATION ZONE, for reasons I won't get into. GEEEEENEEEEVAAAA CONVENTION! FKADF;LKAHFA;LKDFA;IWEICENA).

One, the inability to mute everyone but folks on your friends list, as a default option. Holy shitballs, there are a lot of retards with mics. I mean, Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Before I do anything else in a match, I have to mute the thirty thousand shitbirds spamming bad music/retardation/12-year-old-pre-ball-dropped-phase voices over the airwaves. Mentoc had to take his headset off during one match it got so bad from one asshole, IIRC.

That's the only one that I can think of that doesn't start to venture into Gun Culture stuff, which isn't really relevant too much in vidya games (CLIPSCLIPSCLIPSCLIPS), s'far as the industry standard goes.
